Labor Day pays tribute to the contributions and achievements of American workers. We are so appreciative of this day. How fitting that at sunrise on this Labor Day, Trattore will harvest its estate Viognier grapes, and what a beautiful harvest it is. Thank you to our vineyard and winemaking crew! We hope you enjoy all that goes into the vine to wine cycle. White winemaking is a bit different than the red grape harvest from episode 21. Tune in!
In our 21st episode of Tim Talks, we journey through the vineyards and into the cellar as we pick Pinot Noir from Lee Martinelli's Laughlin Ranch Vineyard in Russian River Valley. Watch this video to the end, and Tim will share a special library wine offer valid through Labor Day, 2021. Enjoy!
In our 20th episode of Tim Talks, and as we approach harvest, we thought it fitting to share the history of Trattore with you! Enjoy this special episode as Tim takes you back in time to talk about his journey to building this farm and winery.
Tune in this week with Tim and Craig as they talk about veraison at Trattore Vineyards - the transition from berry growth to berry ripening, and many changes in berry development occur at veraison. It's pre-harvest preparation time, the calm before the busy period of grape picking, and long hours in the cellar.
Tim will explain how we graft grapes to introduce new varietals on our estate vineyards. This is a process in which a new grapevine is produced by making a cut in the rootstock and then adding scion wood that is cut to fit inside the incision made in the rootstock. We're grafting three varietals: Counoise, Cinsault, and Syrah!
It's a new season. Learn about bud break in our vineyards: the emergence of a new shoot from a bud during the spring. It's an exciting time for winegrowers because it's the first stage of the vine cycle that yields grapes each fall!
