The 2016 Zinfandel came together beautifully for us. We had two different lots of Zinfandel, one was the fruit harvested from the east facing slope of our Zin block and the other from the warmer west facing side. The two were very different from day 5 of fermentation, all the way to the blending session. One brought bright pops of juicy fruit, while the other delivered the richness and mid-palate depth. In the end, the blend of the two made a delicious Zinfandel. With a little Petite Sirah to add color and structure and a bit of Mourvedre to add an earthiness and complexity, we are very happy with our 2016 Zinfandel and we can't wait to share it with you!
Our 2016 Zinfandel is the pure definition of a “Dry Creek Zin.” It opens with aromas of sweet strawberry jam, pomegranate, and cranberry on the nose. The red fruit aromatics are complemented by flavors of black cherry and hints of baking spice. With a gorgeous deep color, this very smooth and medium-bodied wine is satisfying, yet easy to drink.
